Washington DC Restaurants

Since Washington DC is the capital of United States, it is the venue of many international and national political conventions, meetings and conferences and leaders from all over the world visit this city. So, it is natural for this city to offer a few options of power dining along with truly international fare in the matters of dining and wining. For the connoisseurs of good food and drinks, I have listed some of the finest places to shake off your inhibitions and indulge when you are in Washington DC.

If you are a true seafood freak, you can start your gastronomic tour of this city from DC Coast. The name of the restaurant suggests the ‘three coasts', i.e., the east, west, and gulf coasts. It is housed in an elegant salon like room that will remind you of good old yesteryears. This place offers a wide range of sumptuous dishes that are complemented by efficient service. The staff will not let you complain for anything. You can order the Malpeque Oysters that are served with an innovative ginger ice topping. The quantity served makes it a complete meal in itself, unless you are a true gourmand. I like the Chinese Style Lobster, blanched and sautéed with an appetizing peppery sauce. It is laid out beautifully on a bed of crispy stir-fried spinach.

Another popular destination of s eafood lovers is the Perry. It is more like a popular one-stop seafood restaurant. Perry, only a stone's throw away from Radisson Barcelo Hotel , is popular for its trendy, rooftop deck. Its clients love to dine outside when the weather is favorable, although it sometimes means long (but fruitful) waits. Its menu cannot be classified as totally American; it slightly tilts in favor of Asian cuisines and includes salmon, sea bass, soba noodles, and hand-rolled sushi. You should not miss its Sunday brunch to enjoy the show of local drag queens lip-syncing to popular songs.

Georgetown is famous not only for the renowned university, but also as one of the prime spots for shopping and dining in the District. You can find a variety of dining options in the streets of Georgetown and the silver lining is that most of these restaurants have watering holes frequented by the collegiate. These are generally packed to capacity from Thursday through Saturday nights. 1789 Restaurant, situated at a distance of four blocks from The Georgetown Inn , is yet another well known eating joint. This stylish and beautifully decorated place is reminiscent of a federal-style town home. The walls are adorned with paintings of early America. Currier and Ives prints and an old, traditional fireplace give an elegant and classy touch to this restaurant. On the whole, it is a comfortable place to dine with the whole family. The menu has wholesome, all-American dishes like seafood stew, fresh Maryland crab cakes and rack of lamb with creamy feta potatoes. 1789 is famous as one of North America's most prestigious restaurants, and once you have dined there, you will know why people keep on raving about it.

Clyde's restaurant is yet another distinguished eating-place of Georgetown. A relaxed atmosphere and great, sensational food are its main plus points. Just like 1789, the interiors of this place will take you many steps back in time. Mellow woods, suspended model planes, vintage posters, and an enormous fireplace, all these things make this place look like the set of a historical movie. The menu also features truly American delicacies like lobster, salmon, lamb, and enormous steaks. But, you won't find the same items again on the menu, especially during that week. No matter what it offers, everything is fresh and full of flavor and taste. All the dishes are prepared under the expert gui dan ce of chef Colin Edgell. Although located in the expensive Georgetown area, a wholesome meal won't cost you a fortune at this place!
